DiversifyUrEd (D.U.E) at Global Communications Academy, IB
Overview/Summary

The DiversifyUrEd initiative purchased books by authors of color for students in grades K-5. The books were integrated into the curriculum.

Two authors of color were brought in to the school to speak to students in grades K-5. Books written by the two visiting authors were also purchased.

Classroom teachers received a teacher guide containing cultural standards, indicators and rubrics for evaluating their culturally responsive teaching.

A training around cultural competency was implemented.

Students in the senior class received a copy of their commencement speaker's book which deals with body image, self-esteem and confidence.

1. We connected students with books written by marginalized authors. The books were integrated into the curriculum throughout the school year.
